As part of an extensive refurbishment of a cottage in Surrey, a new open-plan living space has been created at the rear of the house to replace a series of small cellular rooms.

The kitchen is nearing completion and will form the centrepiece of the large living space.

 

The layout of the kitchen is essentially a square, with a large central island surrounded on three sides by units in niches and a partition wall has been introduced to give some screening between the kitchen and lounge areas. Dark grey satin units are used throughout, but wooden open shelving, patterned tiles and industrial pendant lights have been incorporated to provide some texture and a slight café feel to the kitchen.
